Vision

The vision of CLEAR is to transform healthcare delivery by providing the knowledge to help organizations eliminate waste and create greater value resulting in the continuous improvement of patients’ outcomes and experience of care, population health, and reduced growth in the cost of care.

Mission

CLEAR’s mission is to conduct timely, relevant, and actionable research on lean whole system transformation initiatives in healthcare.

Lean Action Research Learning Collaborative

Launched in 2017, the aim of the Lean Action Research Learning Collaborative (LARLC) is to accelerate the impact of lean on creating greater value for patients through research that provides actionable knowledge for member hospitals/health systems and the wider lean
healthcare community. Members contribute $50,000 per year (for an anticipated 3-5 years), and partner with CLEAR leaders to select viable research projects each year. There are currently six member organizations:

  • St. Mary’s General Hospital (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada)
  • Sutter Health (Sacramento, CA)
  • UCSF Health (San Francisco, CA)
