Professor Rodriguez’s article entitled “Linking Practice Adoption of Patient Engagement Strategies and Relational Coordination to Patient-Reported Outcomes in Accountable Care Organizations” was recently published in Milbank Quarterly. The journal also released an announcement about the article which can be viewed here.
This article found that the introduction of patient engagement strategies in Accountable Care Organizations did not lead to an increase in patient reported outcomes for their physical, emotional, or social function. This could be due to the need for more widespread staff and clinician training and patient participation over a wider time frame.
