Stephen Shortell, PhD, MPH, MBACo-Director
Dr. Shortell is the Blue Cross of California Distinguished Professor of Health Policy and Management and Professor of Organization Behavior, Emeritus, at the School of Public Health and Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.
Hector P. Rodriguez, PhD, MPHCo-Director
Dr. Rodriguez is the Henry J. Kaiser Endowed Chair in Organized Health Systems, Professor of Health Policy and Management, and Chair of the faculty group in Health Policy at UC Berkeley.
Diane Rittenhouse, MDInvestigator
Dr. Rittenhouse is Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies at UC San Francisco.
Susan L. Ivey, MD, MHSAInvestigator
Dr. Ivey is a physician who has been conducting health services research for 18 years and is currently the Director of Research at Health Research for Action center, an affiliated research center at the School of Public Health, UC Berkeley.
Thomas Rundall, PhDInvestigator
Dr. Rundall is the Henry J. Kaiser Professor of Organized Health Systems, Emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley and Co-Director of the Center for Lean Engagement and Research in Healthcare (CLEAR).
Salma Bibi, MPHAdministrative Director
Ms. Bibi serves as the Administrative Director for CHOIR, as well as the Project Director for the CHIRP project studying the adoption and use of patient engagement innovations and the NEXT-D project examining the CMS State Innovation Model Initiative’s impact on diabetes prevention and management. She provides data management and analysis support across CHOIR studies.
Patricia Ramsay, MPHProject Director
Ms. Ramsay serves as Project Director for the PCORI-funded ACTIVATE study and for a study funded by The Commonwealth Fund to identify medical group capabilities associated with better care for high cost/high risk patients. She provides management and consultation to other CHOIR studies of ACO formation and performance, patient activation and engagement, and health care delivery innovation.
Hattie Hanley, MPPRight Care Initiative Director
Ms. Hanley directs the Right Care Initiative, a public-private, charitably funded collaborative effort that is currently focused on the prevention of heart attacks, strokes, and diabetic complications. The hallmark of her public policy career is bridging across the disparate arenas of business, government and academia.
Judy Li, DrPH, MBAJoint Venture Health Director
Dr. Li co-founded Joint Venture Health with Dr. Shortell in August 2013. She brings a unique combination of health services administration, advocacy and leadership experience to advance its mission, including serving as Chief Administrative Officer of St. Luke's, Region Vice-President for Sutter West Bay, and creating community health programs.
Dora MairenaAdministrative Assistant
Dora Mairena started her career as an administrative assistant at the University of California Office of the President and has over 25 years of experience, with particular knowledge in grants and health and welfare benefits. Ms. Mairena serves as Administrative Assistant for CHOIR operations and for the Right Care Initiative.
Emily Wang, MAData Analyst
Ms. Wang has a background is in statistical modeling and machine learning, and rich experience in exploratory data analysis and visualization. Her interests are in health care research and health data analytics. Ms. Wang is the Data Analyst for CHOIR. She provides data management and analysis support for CHOIR studies.
